Fostering the Future: Emerging Leaders Embark on a Year of Mentorship

This week, the Emerging Leaders Programme kicked off with its first in-person training day in Auckland on 28 April. Supporting and developing people in our industry for 7 years, the Emerging Leaders Programme fosters a sense of purpose for emerging talent in the industry.

This transformative initiative blends expert mentorship with real-world leadership strategies, equipping participants with the skills and confidence to thrive in their careers. This year, 22 outstanding emerging leaders have been carefully matched with experienced mentors, embarking on a 12-month journey of growth, learning, and leadership.

To kick off the year-long programme, mentees from across the country came together for an immersive training day hosted by Debi Higson of Puzzle People. The focus of this workshop is to get people to discover their preferred communication style and the styles of others (colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders) so they can be recognised and adapted to benefit situations or relationships.

Participants learnt how to effectively communicate, develop the confidence to deal with different people and learn how to dial up or dial down their communication style to positively change relationships and outcomes as they embark on this mentoring programme.

Communication to a relationship is like oxygen to life. Without it… it dies.

Applications for the 2025 intake of Emerging Leaders have now closed.
